Europe in 1919, overview of treaties

Hi,
There are two elements to your homework: Wikipedia and your textbook:

1. Let's do a bit of wiki wiki.
Go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Peace_Conference,_1919 and use those headings to create a summary of the conference.
For each heading, focus on the "who, what, where, how, when and why" (You'll be able to do it better for some headings than others, that's OK.)

Do a short who, what, where, when, how and why for each of the five main treaties:
  • the Treaty of Versailles, 1919, 28 June 1919, (the German Empire in Weimar Republic form)
  • the Treaty of Saint-Germain, 10 September 1919, (Austria)
  • the Treaty of Neuilly, 27 November 1919, (Bulgaria)
  • the Treaty of Trianon, 4 June 1920, (Hungary)
  • the Treaty of Sèvres, 10 August 1920; subsequently revised by the Treaty of Lausanne, 24 June 1923, (Ottoman Empire/Republic of Turkey).

2. Use your textbook. The next chapter is Chapter 5.
Note down the key dates at the start of chapter 5. It's important to have a good overview of the key years and dates.
From page 82 onwards, answer these two questions:
  • Why did the eco, pol and soc conditions of the time make it so much more difficult to negotiate a just and balanced peace agreement?
  • What did the individual Allied and Associated powers hope to achieve from the peace treaties?

Show me your work on Monday.

Remember that all these emails also appear on http://yesibhistory.blogspot.com.au/

No lessons for the rest of this week due to Anzac Day. It will be 99 years ago since the Gallipoli landing.
