Hi people,
A.
To finish off your essay statement on the shared document tiny.cc/ww1essays
B.
If you haven’t already done so, you must take notes / create a spread sheet / create cue cards and / or write out the meaning and significance of all the key terms you did in that sorting activity. (See below)
C.
On Monday, you will need your textbook, computer might be handy for additional research.
Copy the key dates and points from page 59. Chapter 4, the first WW 1914 – 1918
D.
Use your textbook (p59 – 66) to answer the following key questions (they are from the side margins of Chapter 4, some questions you can skip, only answer the ones below):
- Why had the war of movement turned into a static trench warfare (stalemate) by December 1914 on the Western Front?
- Why did Japan declare war on Germany?
- Why did Turkey join the Central powers?
- Why did Italy enter the war on the Allied side?
- How did the belligerents seek to use technology and science to overcome the restraints of trench warfare?
- What advantages would the defeat of Russia bring to the Central Powers?
If you don’t finish this in class, all this is due on Tuesday.
On Tuesday you will receive your marked essay back. I am putting a lot of effort in the marking of your essay so that you can (hopefully) benefit from my feedback. I will be available for meetings if you want to discuss your essay further during the week.
On Tuesday we will talk about your analysed essay statements (tiny.cc/ww1essays) and I will check the answers to the key questions.
Look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
