Questions for mini quiz on Monday

Hi people,

I just want to make sure that everyone is keeping up and that you all have the same knowledge. So, on Monday, there will be a mini test based on the questions you've already done as well as the new questions for today.
If you've done all the questions below, you will be ready for the test, the questions will be the same.

All these questions are key questions from the book, but you are encouraged to do more research if you want to supplement what is in the book.

Important:
Your answers should be in easy to read dot points. You will be using this for revision later on, so be kind to yourself; be clear, concise, succinct, use keywords, dates, definitions.

Previous questions:

  1. Why had the war of movement turned into a static trench warfare (stalemate) by December 1914 on the Western Front?
  2. Why did Japan declare war on Germany?
  3. Why did Turkey join the Central powers?
  4. Why did Italy enter the war on the Allied side?
  5. How did the belligerents seek to use technology and science to overcome the restraints of trench warfare?
  6. What advantages would the defeat of Russia bring to the Central Powers?
 New questions:

  1. Page 68: How indecisive was the Battle of Jutland (focus on how Naval power was used)
  2. Page 69: Why did the Germans declare unrestricted warfare against the allies? (define what it is)
  3. Why did the USA enter the war in April 1917?
  4. Why did the German submarine campaign fail?
  5. Page 71 What were the consequences of the failure of the Nivelle offensive? (briefly describe the Nivelle defensive, add date, one dot point for its significance, one for its failure)
  6. Page 72 Why was the Battle of Cambrai a pointer to the future?
  7. 72: How did the Russian Revolutions weaken the Allies?
  8. 74: How did the Germans benefit from the Bolshevik Revolution?
Please send me your 2xA4 info sheet by Sunday night. If I have them all I’ll put the "Practices of WW1" booklet together for the lesson on Monday.

We will start presenting after our mini quiz. Presentations should be interesting, educational, engaging; YOU are the teachers. We won’t be able to get all presentations done on Monday obviously, so there will be more on Tuesday.
